I'm going to be building a new PC soon with an i7-6700k and Corsair H55 water cooler. Naturally, I'm going to want to mess about with overclocking it (why else would you get a K?) so I decided to do some research in advance.
While doing this, I discovered that apparently as you boost the speed you have to boost the voltage. And as you boost the voltage further and further this reduces the life of the CPU. I've read that the generally agreed maximum safe voltage is 1.4-1.45 volts.
But, I was hoping you guys could tell me if there is a point at which the life of the CPU goes down drastically but stays under the 1.4 volts maximum limit.
I'm sorry if this is an easy question, I'm still very new to OCing. Also, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.
