Intel i7 6700k with msi b85m-e45 motherboard?

So i am looking to buy a new cpu for both gaming and 1080p video editing. I am looking to buy the i7 6700k, but i am not sure if it will work with my b85m-e45 motherboard. I am not going to OC the cpu right away, but will in the future when i get a better mb. But will this mb work with the cpu, or will there be any problems with them working together?

no your motherboard only supports 4th gen intel processors (lga 1150), like the
Intel Core i7-4790

which is still a rocksolid cpu, close to the 6700

You won't be over to overclock it anyway. But you need to get a Haswell chip, i7-4xxx to work with that motherboard. The socket is completely different. I would recommend the i7-4790 for your needs.

Your Mobo is socket lga 1050 and that cpu is socket lga 1151 so it will not work, you need a different one for 6th and 7th gen cpu. with your current mobo you are bound to 4th gen cpus.

asus z170-A, not worth the trouble tho get the 4790, its a handful fps behind the 6700

Any Z170 board will work. Like the Gigabyte Gaming 7. But that will also mean getting DDR4 memory as well. You could get a board that supports DDR3, but it needs to be DDR3L. In my opinion, it would be better to just get DDR4 and call it a day.
