Intel i7-7700K 4.2 Temps Fluctuating After OC Option

Hey guys,

I have a problem with fluctuating temps on my CPU - and higher than normal idle temps. I recently downloaded MSI's Gaming App + Afterburner, and upon opening it asked me if I wanted to allow the app permission to control VGA fan control, which I checked yes. Over the course of 2 days, I noticed the cpu idling around 38C - 42C and reaching temps of 85C - I know that these readings are pretty normal, however before the install of the app I had idling temps around 27C - 30C and at full load around 78C - 80C. I uninstalled both MSI + Afterburner, not making any changes to settings, in fact, apart from checking yes to VGA control I didn't touch it. I've checked that the heatsink is properly mounted and theres no problem there. Any ideas?

Asus Maximus IX Formula
Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 + Corsair H100i v2
MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G

Your temps seem high... I would think that perhaps the fans were set lower than you want them to be for your case. You should be able to turn them up a bit. I'd try that and see if it helps...

Thanks for the reply mate. The AIO liquid cooling is running a performance profile. I've run different profiles, all have the same outcome - high cpu temps high rpms. Right now, the AIO radiator fans are running at 2640, the pump at 2880 and the CPU is 55C. Chrome's open + batch processing photos in the background.

So how is the air movement in your case? What are the temps on your 1080ti?
