I am having trouble installing my Intel I7 processor into my ASUS P6T6. This is my first build so this could be an easy fix I am not sure. I put the chip into the holder the correct way and it fits in but I'm not sure what to do after this. I tried closing the gate but it seems that I am forcing it which makes me think that it is not in correctly. I then read that I had to gently push the chip into the slot but that is not working either, it wiggles around a little bit. Does anybody have any tips for a new PC builder such as myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated so that I can get this chip in correctly without ruining it.

read the manual and double check you have all the parts facing the right way.

resistance is not always a bad thing and being firm in necessary when installing some parts.

if in doubt just check everything twice and good luck.

Installing the i7 processor into the ASUS P6T Deluxe requires a bit more pressure than most people think. You'll even hear a metal noise, which is the chip setting into position (while closing the lever).

When I put mine in 2 days ago, I looked at the picture that came with the manual and I made sure it was aligned that way.

And then you need to pull the level just the way the manual says and just close it with the lever. Put the fan on and done :)

Also if you have your own thermal grease, you should clean the pads off of the stock heatsink.
