Hello, for a gaming laptop , which is better, the i9-14900hx or the Core Ultra 9 185H ?
Would new games use the NPU in the future giving the new 185H an edge in the future over 14900hx ?

A gaming laptop would have more than just a processor at it's core. It should come equipped with a discrete GPU(of sorts). Can you pass on links to the laptops you're looking at?

I will be getting the mobile RTX 4080 , but I cant decide between i9 14900HX and the new Core 9 Ultra 185H .. for the ultra has AI NPU advantage

For core count and clocks the 14900HX is better but the new Ultra chips come with AI NPU , and the battery life is almost double when not gaming for the new ARC built in GPU and the two very low voltage cores , as you know the new ultra chips come with P cores and E cores and 2 ultra low voltage cores for long battery life (even lower than E cores . this means that the laptop will run like 8 hours when not gaming even while has rtx 4080 and 6 P cores ..

The only downside is the lower frequency and the missing cores if compared to i9 14900HX( (8P+16E) =32 threads total vs core 9 ultra 185H 6P+8E+2 LP = 22 threads)

you can compare them here

as for laptop model , all vendors are releasing the 185H with RTX 4080 ... like Asus Rog G16 and Lenovo and others etc ..

The answer to your question is what resolution is your laptop screen, or the external screen?
If 1440p or 4k, then either will do. 1080p is a lot more dependant and that's where I'd pick 14900hx.
Do you plan to use the laptop on battery often? If not, pick 14900hx.
I for example have a laptop with 13980hx and bought a smaller 100w charger to carry around when I don't plan to do intensive stuff.
