I've been reviewing specs for Intel i9's, and I can't find much difference between the 9th gen and 10th gen. I'm sure I must be missing something.

I'm primarily interested in development for neural networks, and in running virtualized environments (VMWare, Virtual Box).

Things I've noticed:

The i9-10920x has 48 PCIe lanes, vs the i9-9920x's 44 lanes. Probably not a huge deal.

Max RAM for the 10920x = 256 GB, vs the 9920x's 128 GB.

The 10920x has some enhanced AVX instructions.

Anything else come to mind?

Only new socket to be compatible with one more generation of CPU.
