I'm kind of a n00b here but I was wondering since AMD bought ATI, will there be any motherboards for core 2 duo processors that have the ati chipset? That way I could do crossfire R600s possibly..

Or is it possible to do crossfire r600 on something like the new EVGA 680i mobo? I'm just wondering because I am going to build a new comp soon but then hold off on the graphics card until the r600 to see how it compares to the 8800gtx.

Thank you.

OK thanks a lot! I'm just trying to decide what to do when I build my computer... I want to get the better of the 2 video cards and I can wait on that. But I also want to have the option of sli or crossfire... I would need to buy the motherboard sooner though. hmm

Same here Groto, I cant wait to see how the G80 stacks up against the new R600 chip.

I'd imagine that since the x1950xtx uses GDRR4 memory it will be interesting to see if that provides a large advantage for ATI as I'd imagine the new cards being developed will utilize that as well.

I'm just kind of stuck here... I'm almost ready to build a new computer and I really like the EVGA 680i mobo.. but if I get that and then if the R600 is better.. then I can't have the possible crossfire option. Decisions!

I think that the DFI RD600 board is due to be announced w/c 11/12/06 & there is supposed to be at least an Asus as well afaik.
