Hey guys:

PostCode: E6: Keyboard doesn't respond.

I am trying to rebuild my old HP8 1287c. I am reusing the i7 3770, the new power supply and graphics card I had installed, and the RAM.

I purchased an Intel DZ77GA-70K so I'd have 4 - Sata III ports and the 77 chipset because I thought it would squeeze everything possible out of the 3770.

It gives me a PostCode E6 when I try to boot it, and the Keyboard doesn't do anything at all.

Here's what's in it at the moment.

1) Motherboard DZ77GA-70K (New)
2) CPU 3770 (worked great in the H8) ;-)
3) 24GB RAM 2 - 8's, 2- 4's (also worked great in the H8)
4) NZXT X41 Water Cooler - (New)
5) EVGA 960 GeForce (also worked great in the H8)
6) Hitachi 2TB 7200 RPM Drive (worked in the H8, but is kind of slow Sata II)
7) Seagate SSHD 4TB (New)
8) New case, but I don't imagine that's the problem ;-)

Keyboard is Microsoft Ergonomic USB
Mouse is Logitech USB.

Here's what I've done:

1) Tried to boot... the video comes up and shows the options press F2, press F7, & press F10 - PostCode E6
2) Keyboard doesn't respond so I can't go into any of these.
3) Downloaded and flashed the BIOS with the latest update as this was one of the suggestions I found during my search.
4) Tried to boot again, the results were the same the video comes up and shows the options press F2, press F7, & or press F10 - PostCode E6
5) The keyboard still doesn't respond, so I can't press F2, F7, or F10.

I looked up E6 and it reads stared connecting drivers. I'm afraid I'm not sure what that means.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thank you. I appreciate your help!

I'm sure I'll have to work through the SSHD setup before too long. Right now, I'm still trying to get the motherboard to post and at least recognize the keyboard so I can set up the boot order, etc.

Once I got through the boot, I thought I'd try to boot from the 2TB that was in the HP.

I'm not sure if that will work, but it looks like I'm stuck a bit before the disks come into play at the moment.

Hopefully, I'll get this figured out before too long.

I really do appreciate your insight on the size of the disk.

I'm sure I'll need to use that info once I get past the current hurdle. (Thank you ahead of time for that!)

Thanks
