Greetings!
I am planning to buy a new laptop and I am really not familiar with the newer Intel Pentium processors. I have used these configurations:
  1. i3-5005u with 8gb ram
  2. i5-8520u with 8gb ram
  3. i7-4712mq with 4gb ram and 12gb ram as well.
  4. Intel n2930 with 2gb ram
I was happy with all these except Asus x200ma which had Intel n2930 with 2gb ram and it was terribly slow. I mean I had to install debian minimal with XFCE4 to use firefox with least comfort.
For now I am extremely tight on budget and want to buy 1 laptop for browsing/media/office usage for my cousin.
If anybody knows or have used the Intel N5000 with 4GB Ram, please enlighten me how good or bad this will perform. You may compare to any of the above configurations. Thanks.

PS: Sorry for grammar/linguistic errors.

When i was looking a laptop for my wife, i too came upon the N4000 and N5000 CPUs. After intensive research, i ditched the Celeron/Pentium CPUs and went with i5-8250U CPU instead. While the laptop usage is also web browsing and production work (programming), the better performance CPU would last far longer before it would be obsolete due to the low performance, hence why i went with Core i5.

Btw, there is no i5-8520U CPU. What there is, is i5-8250U.

As far as N5000 goes, here's the CPU comparison with the CPUs you've used:

i7-4712HQ* vs N5000, link: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compa...vs-Intel-Pentium-Silver-N5000/m10973vsm499477
N2930 vs N5000, link: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compa...vs-Intel-Pentium-Silver-N5000/m13386vsm499477

* comparison site doesn't have i7-4712MQ in the list, so picked the i7-4712HQ. Both CPUs are equal where MQ isn't soldered, has slightly lower GPU clock and doesn't support VT-d.
