Basically what the title says, what's the best cpu for minecraft? And maybe for Dayz and Gta and a few other games. My gpu of choice will probably be a 270x.

intel (i5) will run games better that run on 2 or 4 cores; games that support as many cores as you have (Crysis 3 and BF4) will give an AMD FX 8350 a slight edge (overclocked). A lot of people are speculating that since ps4 and xbox one have similar cores/architecture to PC now that future games will better and more frequently support heavy multi threading (use of all cores). alternatively an i7, which is 4 cores + hyperthreading, could see support too if games take that route into multithreading support.- but that's like 200 dollars more than the AMD

It does? Wow. So an i3 (dual core) with Hyper threading be good for minecraft and a few other games just to experience pc gaming w/ mods like Gta and Sayz standalone?

My budget is rather low and I would rather drop more money on a gpu than a cpu. I really wouldn't like to go over £100 for a cpu so that's why I'm speculating between an i3 and any amd cpu.

Minecraft's using 2 cores.. but Intel still would be much better!

Would an i3 still hold it's own in games like Dayz and Gta comparing it to a 6300?

the i3 will do better for minecraft. any game that runs on one or 2 cores/threads will be better on the i3, this is basically all games up until 2011-12. newer games will probably do a bit better on the FX 6300, especially if overclocked heavily. an i3 can not be overclocked.

Well, I use both CPU's and the FX 6300's much better! It runs Minecraft with 200-600fps at highest settings.. I play with shaders, a bunch of mods and still got like 50-110fps!
+ It has more cores for background tasks maybe?
+ It's cheaper

Get yourself a FX 6300 unless you got the money for an Intel Core i5

What GPU do you use buddy?

Right now I'm using a GTX 760, but even shaders are rendered by CPU.. so, doesn't really matter when playing Minecraft. In other games it does, sure you know that hah!
