Hey all, I have an old I5-3570k that cant keep up with my 1080TI. I have to buy a new mobo and ram anyway so I can switch over to AMD if they are better now.

Also are there any new CPUs coming out before 2019? I'm not in a big rush to upgrade but that would be the longest I can wait.

9th 'gen' intel chips are rumored and most likely coming out October. The i7 9700k has no hyperthreading but it has 8 actual cores. It definitely the best bet for gaming if you're willing to cough up the money it's supposed to launch at $350. If you want something a little cheaper, the i5 9600k is also most likely going to be exceptional for gaming with 6 cores coming in at $250.

I personally believe it's worth the extra $100 to get the i7 9700k because it future proofs you slightly more than the i5. Both will handle games great

For now AMD Ryzen is great for everything including gaming, but for strict gaming Intel still edges out AMD.

It probably can't keep up with your 1080 TI because your on 1080p. 1080p is quite a CPU demanding resolution. Instead of upgrading your RAM, CPU, Motherboard.

Just upgrade your monitor to 1440p, and let the GPU be your bottleneck.

I am playing at 1440p with g sync
