This has been countless times already, but I am looking to upgrade from an AMD FX 6300 3.5ghz 6 core processor. I was looking into getting the FX 8350 or possibly FX 9370. But I wanted to know if I went Intel, what should I get?
This is for gaming, I want to run games on ultra, and I already have the GTX 770 for now so GPU isn't an issue. I'm also on a budget too. What's recommended?

Solution
The only upgrade you've really got on your current motherboard is the FX-8350 for $200, which will not be a noticeable improvement most of the time. Saving up for an Intel platform is going to pay off a lot more.

If you want an improvement in the short-term, you could pick up a $30 Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO cooler and overclock your FX-6300. I hear the 6300 is a good overclocker, and AMD's processors often have more to gain than Intel's by overclocking, as they're more often holding back performance.
Why are you wanting to upgrade your FX6300 and what motherboard do you have? If you already have a good motherboard, you could get one of the 8 core FXs. I don't think you would notice the upgrade a lot of the time though. If you need to replace your motherboard too though, I recommend a locked i5 + B85, H87, or H97 motherboard.

For gaming you get the current overclockable i5, so 4670k or 4690k. If you want gaming plus a workhorse machine that does lots of data processing that scales with hyperthreading well then you'd get the current overclocakable i7, but since you said you're on a budget you probably wouldn't get more than the i5 anyway.

The 8350 performs about where the price is set. If you want a budget machine then it might be a good choice, especially if it's a rig that primarily does other work and also happens to game. For a high performance gaming machine you really don't want AMD these days, they just don't have anything that competes beyond the mid range i5's on average.

Really depends on your budget. A new Intel processor means a new motherboard and possibly a new Windows license. Personally, I don't see that any upgrade would be necessary (I don't need to play games on ultra). Put your money somewhere else, IMO.

if you think its a big enough increesement then take the fx-8350 if you going to take 9370 wich i dont recomend and you will need to change mobo then go intel right away and get a i5-4670k or the i7. otherwise i would suggest just keeping the fx-6300 and wait for new line ups.

And if you really want to upgrade now and have have the money then go intel. but the fx-6300 with a 770 should be able to play almost all games on ultra settings 60+ fps

Yes I would go with an Intel build plenty of options/upgrades and far more future proof currently. AMD is basically still where they were at 4-5 years ago.....AM3+ is dead although they should try to do something with it....Piledriver/Bulldozer is average basically yet at the same time kind of a failure.....

I'm willing to purchase the i7 4770k, but am wondering how powerful that will be for gaming. And I was looking at the MSI gaming 5 lga 1150 motherboard for it.

Top tier CPU with a good motherboard.

Great, but as the others alluded to, a Haswell i5 will be just as fast in most games as a Haswell i7. I know of nothing wrong with MSI motherboards, and as far as looks go they're my personal favorite by far.

I would actually recommend looking to the i5-4690K (or i7-4790K) which will be available on June 25th. Slight improvements to clock speeds and thermal performance, at the same cost. I think you've already picked out a Z97 motherboard, which is perfect. Just be aware that there's still the older Z87 motherboards floating around that are compatible, but have fewer features for the same price.
