Intel Or AMD

I know that its also largely down to preference but what should i choose for gaming and light video editing? i5 4690K or AMD FX - 8320? Im leaning towards the AMD because its cheaper and has more cores.

I have had trouble in the past with two of my amd builds and they both had issues because the motherboards are junk. I had one intel build and it works perfectly. I would use intel as much as it pains me to make the only competitor keeping intels prices down lose business.

Even though the AMD has more cores they are lacking greatly in performance compared to the i5-4690K http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KPRWB9G. If this is a gaming build primarily then you are going to have a lot better performance with the Intel even with the video editing.

Both will perform about the same in apps that can use the cores of the fx. The FX might do better if your video editing software can use all the cores and your subsystems are on par to handle the load.
The intel offers a better upgrade path. No one is even sure if AMD will continue making newer am3+ cpu's at all

It really is your choice.
