Intel or amd

I am looking at processors for building my computer and was wondering if I should go with a
I5 4690k or a amd fx 8350 4ghz am3+ black edition boxes processor

AMD can't compare with Intel.
Core for core @ the same clock, AMD is half the speed of Intel.

That being said, the top AMD processors are fine for gaming.

Any tasks in particular you will be working with? Is this machine meant for gaming, video editing, photo editing, browsing the internet, programming, etc?

Clock for clock Intel wipes the floor with AMD, but an overclocked AMD eight core (8320/8350/8370) is about par with a stock i5-4670K/4690K.

Short Answer:
AMD FX: Good power for cheap.
Intel: Great power but rather pricey.
