Intel P4 630 Socket 775 LGA Upgrade to Dual Core

Dec 1, 2009
I own a Dell Dimension 8400 and I would like to upgrade my P4 to a dual core processor that uses the same socket 775 I am using now, but I am unsure of whether or not I can run a dual core processor.

My mainboard is from dell and is based on the Intel i925x

I dug into this for you. I checked the forums at Dell support, and one of the posts asked the same question as you. The fastest the dell guy said was a 3.6 ghz p4 of the same era as the chip you have.

Heres the link:

and this one for more info. They got a 3.8 ghz chip and also a p4 670 to work.

May be cheaper to bite the bullet and get a new rig. Lots of deals right now.
