Intel Pentium G3220 vs Intel Core I3-3220

Hi fellow forummers, i have this 3 year old cpu just laying around and i have a question to ask, which of these two is the better processor for casual gaming. I know that the pentium uses a newer architecture but it doesnt hurt to ask.

My PC Spec:
CPU:Intel Pentium G3220
GPU:Sapphire HD7770 Ghz ver
RAM:6GB
HDD:Seagate 1TB
OS:Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
MOBO: Asus H81M-C

the i3 is far better than the pentium for gaming, and everything else.

i3 will be better.
Some Games CPU test your G3220 will be weaker around 7,5% compared to non OC G3258 in test
I3-3220 will be weaker around 10% compared to non OC i3-3225 in test

The I3 has slightly better single core performance, and quite a bit better overall performance. If you already have the I3 I would use it.

The i3 3220 will not work with that motherboard it is a 1155 socked and the H81 is a 1150 socket.

Last advice sell old i3 buy new i3 for LGA1150 and you will see performance gain
Latter also sell old pentium 😉
Both old i3 + pentium you can sell for similar price to i3 for LGA1150

Last thing normal haswell CPU will works on your mobo *example i3-4130 refresh haswell *example i3-4160 required bios update
If you have acer mobo for lga 1155 install CPU and use your i3.
Or try sell this acer mobo and i3 on ebay, you earn around 110$.
And grab cheap i5 from local microcenter 159$

Sell old pentium 20-25$
total cost for i5-4590 160$ - 110$ -25$ = 25$
