Hi everyone. The pentium g3258 supports memory speeds of 1333, however I'm buying 1866 speed ram. Will I be able to go into the BIOS and change the speed to its normal amount, or will it be stuck at 1333 until I get a better processor? My motherboard does support ram up to 3000. I'd appreciate feedback.

XMP might allow it but think of it like a FSB overclock to get it there. the memory controller on the chip likes to run at 1333 and theres no saying 100% it will be stable or not at X mhz. Consider getting 1333 Mhz RAM but with the lowest CAS timings you can find. The overall latency will depend on the CAS and the Mhz.

No, what I'm saying is can I run it at 1866 even though the processor doesn't allow it? I'm asking because I read something saying you can, as long as the mobo supports it, but I want to be sure.

No, it would be bottlenecked.
