Hello, guys, I am building a new PC and I really need your help! I will get some computer parts for a new rig and I am on a tiny budget so I thought that a Pentium G3420 Haswell would be a good idea, so I can upgrade to a better CPU (i3 or i5) later... Right now, I don't have enough money to get an i3 or an i5. What GPU would you recommend me? I will play newer games at 1280x1024, medium-high-ultra(I don't need 60FPS. It's ok for me to have at least 25-30 FPS). Please, help me!
(I play games like GTA IV, GTA SA with graphic mods, Battlefield 3 / 4, Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Call of Duty, Max Payne 3, and I hope, I will be able to play GTA V if it comes to PC on medium - high.)
Sorry for my English, I'm Romanian.
Thanks!

I honestly don't think you can play BF4 with a Pentium The rest of those game will be somewhat playable but will cut it close. As for GPU maybe a 650 TI, or 650 Ti Boost (2gb) if you can afford it would be pretty decent choices. not sure of pricing in Romania..

you should be good with a gtx760 or a hd7870.

also mind you, a report suggested that the new broadwell s would not be compatible with 8 Series LGA 1150 motherboards due to a change to Intel's power specifications for the socket. so when you upgrade, you will need to upgrade to haswell and not broadwell.

that said, good luck and happy gaming :)

Why are you suggesting a 250 USD GPU to someone who is buying a Pentium b/c an I3 is too expensive?

I considered getting an AM3+ motherboard + Athlon II X2 270 and later upgrade, but I am affraid of the big TDP of AMDs. I heard that AMD stock coolers are very low.
What do you think about LGA1155? Is it still a good platform?

As long as you have decent case ventilation and you don't OC the Stock fan on an AMD rig will work just fine. Those pentiums keep up with even the FX4300 (well kinda) so you didn't neccesarily make the wrong choice I just think bf4 isn't really an option.

@Sidd I fully understand what you're saying and don't disagree but I bet that card costs nearly as much as the rest of that budget combined :) (PS: My 760 will be here tomorrow as an early xmas present to myself, turning into a present for my nephew (my 650 TI 😛)

I am not really sure about getting an i3. I thought that I'd better get the Pentium and later upgrade to an i5 Haswell. I need to buy every part of the PC and that's why I don't want to spend so much money for the CPU. In Romania, Intel CPUs aren't so affordable...

It's a really good idea. I will try to find an FX-6300 PC whitout a GPU that I will buy later.

Hello, what do you think about a 960T Motherboard? I will return with the link of the exact model of the Mobo. Will it support FX-8xxx w/o any BIOS update or OC at CPU? I want to know if it's ok for the future upgrades. Thanks!

look man cost value of an G3420 is just the best choise! i have THIS CPU and i play battlefield 3 ultra graphics with my asus HD7790...for now it is powerfull enough to play games since now..later you will have to buy a better cpu for gaming..just think of it it's a really well cpu i'm running a year now with no problems and it's quite fast!
