Can CPU of 133Mhz FSB (like Intel PIII 800EB/133Mhz) be used safely on a motherboard of 100FSB (like Asus P3B-F)? (Of course with socket 370 adapter on this slot 1 board)
I just happened to have an extra CPU but without a new motherboard that supports 133Mhz FSB. If it works, would there be any noticeable performance degradation by underclock CPU? I am not a gamer and use it mainly for office application programs and web surfing. If someone can enlighten me, I would appreciate it.

You can use this CPU at 100FSB if you want but it will run at 600 MHz. If you have a good video card and PC133 RAM the Asus P3B-F will run just fine at 133 Mhz FSB=800MHz.

A pc only runs as fast as its slowest component, So if you are running a cpu cpable of 133 at 100 then you are not fully utilising it to its full benefit
