Question Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU problems please help kek

So I haven't really ever had this problem, but I've started playing Lost Ark, and yesterday even on High graphics I've been fine. But recently I've started having hard stutters and freezing for a few seconds. I have QuickCPU and anytime it happens I'll look and see that my usually 3.2-4ghz drops down to .80ghz. (Temp usually runs at around 75-90.) I've lowered my video settings down to low, and usually I run most games with everything on 70% CPU performance, I've turned it up to 100% and it seems to be less frequent, but I'm still getting problems. I thought after I caught up on a bunch of updates that the problem would be resolved but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I have a Dell G5 15 5500, have had it for about a year and a half. If anybody could brainstorm anything that might be an issue please throw it my way!

The Dell G5 series have some severe power limit throttling issues.

Temp usually runs at around 75-90.

When the average temperature gets into this range, there is no reason for the CPU to slow down. These temperatures are normal operating temperatures according to Intel . Someone at Dell disagrees. Many of their laptops will reduce the turbo power limits so low that it forces the CPU to throttle down as low as 798 MHz. Horrible design and often times, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

You can try cleaning out your laptop. You will need to get your temps as low as possible to avoid the bizarre throttling scheme that Dell is using. The last person that complained to Dell about this was told that this was "by design" and there was nothing wrong with their laptop.

Instead of QuickCPU, try using ThrottleStop. Turn on the Log File option so you have some documentation about the absurd power limit throttling problem. Play a game for at least 15 minutes. When done testing, attach a log file to your next post if you would like me to have a look at it. The log file will confirm exactly what is going on.

When the average temperature gets into this range, there is no reason for the CPU to slow down. These temperatures are normal operating temperatures according to Intel . Someone at Dell disagrees. Many of their laptops will reduce the turbo power limits so low that it forces the CPU to throttle down as low as 798 MHz. Horrible design and often times, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

You can try cleaning out your laptop. You will need to get your temps as low as possible to avoid the bizarre throttling scheme that Dell is using. The last person that complained to Dell about this was told that this was "by design" and there was nothing wrong with their laptop.

Instead of QuickCPU, try using ThrottleStop. Turn on the Log File option so you have some documentation about the absurd power limit throttling problem. Play a game for at least 15 minutes. When done testing, attach a log file to your next post if you would like me to have a look at it. The log file will confirm exactly what is going on.

@Samuari7 - It is best to copy and paste log file data to www.pastebin.com so it is a lot easier to read. This maintains the formatting.

The far right column shows the reason for throttling. Initially there is PL2 throttling at less than 20W. Intel says the 10750H has a TDP power rating of 45W. A properly engineered laptop should be able to run indefinitely without overheating or power limit throttling at the full 45W. That is what you paid for when you bought a laptop with a 45W processor.

Your log file confirms the exact problem that I was talking about. The end of the log file shows constant PL1 power limit throttling even when power consumption is less than 5W. This throttling is what forces the CPU down to only 800 MHz. The MULTI column confirms the slow down.

Throttling to less than 20W is already a fail. When PL1 throttling kicks in after that, there is throttling down to 3.3W or 3.4W. That is beyond an epic fail for what should be a high performance processor. There is no legitimate reason for this.

You can try contacting Dell but so far they have not been willing to offer any sort of explanation. This problem plagues a wide variety of Dell laptops.

I've also noticed that my Intel UHD graphics hits 100% randomly, any thing about that??
Another thing is I havent set a constant GHZ for my cpu so i will try that aswell

I assume you have a Nvidia GPU so the Intel UHD should not be the primary source of the problem you are having.

The Intel GPU can also be forced to throttle excessively. The power limit that is being forced way too low can cause both the Intel CPU cores and the Intel GPU to run at their lowest possible speed. It is possible for the Intel GPU utilization to go way up if the Intel GPU is being forced to run at a fraction of its rated speed.

I am not 100% sure what the exact trigger is that causes these laptops to slow down to an 800 MHz crawl. It seems to be triggered by the average temperature being around 80°C. It is possible that you can use ThrottleStop to slow your CPU down to try and avoid this severe throttling from ever starting.

To slow the CPU down you can check the Disable Turbo feature or you can reduce the Speed Shift Max value in the TPL window or you can lower the PL1 and PL2 power limits to somewhere around 25W to 30W. Also check both Clamp options so these power limits are enforced.

You throttling your CPU might be better than the throttling scheme that Dell engineering has dreamed up. Throttling to 25W or 30W is not ideal but it is worlds better than throttling down to 3.4W and 800 MHz. If your laptop is still under warranty you should contact them. Perhaps a new motherboard or a new power adapter will fix things. Make sure to run another log file before their tech dude leaves.
