Can anyone tell me, in your own words, what does the Intel(R) Technology Access do? Is it necessary on a laptop without touch screen? Thanks.

I´ll answer to myself. This is the official Intel description:

Intel (R) Technology Access:

Usage:

Intel(R) Technology Access exposes the 2-in-1 sensor and display setting detection to the browser applications using web services. The 2-in-1 sensor determines the mode of a device (for example: tablet mode or clamshell mode). The Display settings detect and get the screen resolution and orientation values.

It also exposes the Microsoft Windows 8.x* COM sensors accelerometer, ambient light, compass, inclinometer & orientation.

So, it´s not necessary if your PC doesn´t have a touchscreen.
