Intel Rapid Storage Cache Flushing & Cache Mode

I've setup a computer in Raid 1. Intel RST has by default enabled Write-cache buffer flushing. From reading online it's strongly suggested that this stay enabled. However, below that option there's Cache mode which be default is set to OFF. What mode should the Cache be set to? Is off fine or does in need to be changed to Write through or something else. I want the system data to be safe, yet I don't want the system to slow to crawl from latency.

Since you "want the system data to be safe", you may enable this option (Cache mode) after disabling Write-Cache Buffer Flushing, but DO NOT enable Write Back as this option writes the data in the cache first and fills it at the same time it writes the data on the hard drive. The problem of the cache is that it's volatile (versus the hard drive which is non-volatile and remains with or without power), and if your computer should crash or suffer a power outage, you WILL lose data, or encounter corrupted data, which we don't want in a RAID 1.
Consequently, you may enable Read Only, or like you were talking about the Write Through as these options improves read performances (Read Only) or data security (Write Through). I would recommend the Read Only as your actual setup includes a RAID 1.
