[citation][nom]GeekApproved[/nom]Am I the only one shocked to see a non HT SINGLE CORE CPU?? Why bother?[/citation]
$35 is a good price for it, should be fine for a build your own NAS.

Llano is a better balanced APU, I will still chose it over the 2125 any day! The AMD motherboards FM1 are more equipped than similar priced Intel Boards. As I say a better balance with AMD, Intel has only two chips worth spending on IMO, 2500k and 2600k!

Quote from alidan,"you know i wish intel would stick to 1 name and 1 number per chip". Hey Alidan;start rubbing your lamp, you may do better watching porn instead of these articles.

Your typing it wrong! iT's "iNtel" not intel.

iNtel has that Applesque quality about them. Arrogant, and contemptuous as well. Is Lord Jobs slightly evil iDentical twin brother the CEO?

[citation][nom]malmental[/nom]didn't think about that, good point...but you would also think that depletion of the older technology (sales) will also bring in finances (money)...[/citation]

well i'm guessing that either it's getting expensive for them to make older cpus, or they want to make as much off the remaining buyers for the older chips. Because, if you think about it, not many ppl (non-tom's ppl i mean :D ) will buy older gen cpus now and they're trying to make the most money off the few being sold.
Just a guess, who knows what Intel thinks...

So they are basically filling up the gaps in the lineup. Whatever, price drops are always good, even small ones. Still patiently awaiting Bulldozer, do not disappoint me AMD.

Look at that Celeron G440 for only $37! :D

Why on earth is that still being made? I feel sorry if anyone does. I experienced Celerons in the past, just has no future.

Makes sense if you are thinking from a business perspective.

eg: How much money can you spend for 1000 corporate machines? This is the processor you go with.

Not really relevant to anyone here buying a personal machine, because you'd probably never touch a locked higher end Intel graphic CPU with a 10 foot pole, or any of the celerons.

Basically, we're all waiting to see the 3820 CPU on LGA 2011, because it should be 20% faster then a 2600.

the celeron G530 is a bargain dual core, 2mb cache 2.4ghz with intel hd graphics, around £30 which is £20 less than the pentium G620/630. That is more than enough speed for the average user and can hardware decode 1080p bluray.

I have to agree with the two very smart posters. They are Wish I Was Wealthy and vdr369. There so right, especially about the future intel ivy brigde processors.

Intel's naming is quite confusing and it seems like no one even uses their Celerons or Pentiums anymore so it's amazing to me that they still make them.

[citation][nom]SteelCity1981[/nom]Intel is such a cluster fudge company when it comes to their cpu marketing. I mean, really do they still need a Celeron or a Pentium anymore.... All that does is confuse the consumor even more, let alone trying to explain to the avg consumor what Core i7, i5 and i3 means. If intel was smart they would kill off the Pentium and Celeron names and use the Core i3 as their base product from now on.[/citation]
Unfortunately, it does not work that way...

Facing some bad press and products, Ford decided to halt production of the Ford Tarus, and completely redesign it. But they never actually 'stopped' production, they just changed it enough to where the bean counters on the top decided that it needed a re-branding. They renamed the Ford Taurus: The Ford Five Hundred... The newly redesigned Taurus with it's new name, met with GREAT reviews. But sales suffered. Customers were unfamiliar with this brand, and stayed away from it.
After sales sagged so far that they were actually considering shutting down the Five Hundred line, they decided to try and boost sales by... Re-Re-branding the Five Hundred. They gave the car it's old name back. Sales IMMEDIATELY spiked. The explanation goes something like: Better to go with the devil you know, than the devil you don't... The average Joe knew what a Taurus was supposed to be. But they had no idea what a Five Hundred was...

So to with the Pentium and Celeron brands. People are comfortable with those brands and have certain expectations attached to them. Therefore, these brands will stick around for a LONG LONG time...

[citation][nom]cats_paw[/nom]Im sticking with my Q6600 for now. Once i need ill change (thou i have to admit tht im feeling tempted to buy shiney new hardware ;D).[/citation]
I have a Q6600 and it's still working like a champ. I overclocked it to 3.0GHz (from 2.4 stock) last year, I had the itch to buy a new rig back then too, but I was too broke to do so. Maybe I'll push for 3.4GHz this year...

I bought i5 2500K i know i wont regret this buy. I want Bulldozer to succeed, to fire some competition, and put some pressure for the upcoming ivy Bridge.
