Well this is exciting news. I'm curious to see more details as they emerge, but pro-sumers might have a decent HEDT replacement for X299! The Xeon W5-3435X interests me the most ATM, I'm curious to see what kind of clock speeds these chips can hit, and if memory will be overclockable as well, or locked to the CPU.

Videocardz.com has a little bit more info:

phoronix had a couple of articles on user level interrupts support in SPR, which improved their IPC performance measurements by around 9x. That feature might make it attractive for simulation tools. See, for example, their article

"Intel's User Interrupts With Sapphire Rapids Looking Quite Great For Faster IPC"

Unfortunately this looks to be aimed at TR Pro rather than bringing back actual HEDT which is what I was afraid of when the first leaks were indicating 8ch memory. I'd be pretty surprised if any of the boards cost less than $800 and same with the CPUs.

I know it's basically beating a dead horse at this point, but an actual HEDT successor with 4ch memory (keep the price of entry down), but keeping most (or all) of the extra IO is still what I wish for. I'm not sure this would even be possible with SPR though due to the chip design and split memory controllers.

The W models will be super interesting from a performance and capabilities point of view. But I'm afraid the pricing will be Xeon level, starting around $1K with top end models costing close to $10k. This makes the whole line none HEDT and just for corporates.
I for one are particularly interested in what the AMX stuff brings to NN. With 56 cores of AMX, the Xeon W9-3495X looks spectacular on paper!

I hadn't looked at the leak from this article originally, but it sounds like the 2000 series will be 4 ch and single die with overclocking on 12/16/20c models. I've not seen anything with regards to socket type, but if these were also running a different socket there might be cheaper motherboards to go with them.
