Would using the stock overhead 775 socket motherboard with Q6600 CPU fit on a 1156 socket motherboard with i5 760 CPU as my H50 I was given didn't have backplate and lots of other bit to mount it! So I will run CPU at default speeds if that fan fits as I don't want to uninstall it as its got those awful spring bolts and push pins. I'm building a game rig atm and plan on keeping the mb, CPU & stock cooler combo for a HTPC so I don't want to uninstall unless it will fit the other mb and i5.

Solution
Just bought a cheap Rosewill cooler for around $15 for my old Q6600 (push pin broke when I removed it). Works better than stock with good mounting. Sorry cant remember model.

Solution
It won't,the sockets are too different so the mounting holes for the cooler as well.Maybe contact Corsiar ,see if they have mounting kits.
Other options for a cooler that doesn't cost too much,

Getting abit confused when reading the question though, from what i gather you want to use the stock cooler from the Q6600 on the 1156 motherboard with the i5 750?
