I just got an Abit IC7-G with a 2.6c retail with stock fan last night. I installed everything and had windows running. Then I tried overclocking a bit. After about an hour in windows and in the middle of a burn-in test, the stock fan just stopped! I restarted the computer and the fan started back up. I started the stress tests again and zzzz...it stopped again! Is this a motherboard problem, a power supply problem, or did I get stuck with a crap fan from Intel?

Don't really know why, though it doesn't seem to be limited to Intel based fans. I've had all sorts of fans stopping on me, ranging from the one on the GFX card (2 in fact), to the one on the HSF, and even one 80mm case fan. Most of them had something in common however, they were cheap crap. Only 1 was supposed to be better, but even that crapped out on me after a while.

And as far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to be a PSU or mobo problem, for me anyways.

Intel uses top quality fans, so it has to be a power management issue.

so you think my PS has issues? Never heard of an Antec going bad, but I'm having a hell of a time with my USB flash drives not showing up. I have that 7-in-1 floppy/flash drive. The floppy shows up but the flash drives arent't. Hey, is there a limit to how many partitions/drives you can have in XP? I have my 120 GB partitioned into 5 partitions, and my 80 GB into 2, plus two optical drives and then the 7-in-1.

I didn't say power supply, I said power management, as in APM, a BIOS feature that is accessed by Windows to power down certain devices when they aren't needed. First thing I'd try is turning off APM in BIOS. If that fixes it, see if there's a specific setting you can narrow it down to.

if you have a multimeter next time the fan stops check the voltage at the pin header. If you have voltage the fan has a heat problem. If you don't have voltage its a motherboard or power supply issue.
