[SOLVED] Intel upgrade build advice needed

Basically, last time I upgraded my PC was 5 years ago.

I notice time and time again that my cpu is lackluster even with my GPU, It's just too bottle-necked.
The GPU was basically free long ago when I worked at an electronic company, so that's why I have a huge bottle neck right now.

I dont want to build a new PC from scratch, I'm just looking to replace the Motherboard, Ram, and CPU.

My current pc is:
Tx850 (850 watt Power supply)
Asus p8p67pro rev 3 mobo
16 gb ddr3 Ram
Intel i7 2600k @4.0ghz
GeForce Gtx Titan X

I don't really have plans on upgrading my PC for probably another 5 years, so I don't want to make the mistake I did last time. I want to buy one the best CPU's that I can, that wont end up bottle-necking me like my last one did.
I already have an Nvidia 2080 Super, so all I'm really looking for is a good motherboard, ram, and CPU. Mainly the CPU. I do have some knowledge about CPU's, but i'm totally clueless when it comes to Motherboard and Ram.

Just to say, I plan on having at least 24GB of ram (but prefer 32gb) and I have $1100 to spend towards MOBO/RAM/CPU


TL;DR - I need a build suggestion for the best CPU/ Motherboard / Ram combination with a Nvidia 2080 Super.
(I have $1100 to spend - even if overkill.)

I would hardly call your last build a mistake, not if you built it years ago. 2600k was and is still very capable even today.

To start off, cpu, mobo and ram. 10700k & cooler, Z490 and 2x 16GB 3600 CL 16 ram. Keep ram in even pairs and same capacity, not 24GB.

Can you also rec me a Power supply? I have a TX850, and putting it in PC part picker tells me:

Note:The Asus ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) ATX LGA1200 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Corsair Enthusiast 850 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.

Probably be fine without the additional 4pin but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Go for a high tier psu for the build your planning. Corsair AX sounds good. 750w be more than enough.

Good cpu/mobo/ram suggestion from boju.

I think your psu will be fine.
You did well to buy a good quality psu up front.
The extra 4 pin motherboard connector is not usually needed.
It is there primarily to supply extra power for a second graphics card and for heavy overclocking.
In the event that it is needed, your psu has sufficient capability to power a molex to 4 pin eps adapter cable.
If you want a new psu, look at the seasonic focus GX-850w.
It has the extra eps pins and a 10 year warranty:

I have a 1080p 144 HZ monitor. I may go for a 1440p 144 hz in the future, but Im not interested in 4k gaming, i care about fps more than resolution

SO you're 100% confident my Tx850 will still be sufficient for my NEw mobo/CPU and the 2080 super? The only thing I'd want to OC is the cpu not that GPU

I have several of those same parts on a 9 year old TX750 which I am replacing within the week with an RM850. I'm using an RTX 2080 Super, 32GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 7 3700x. If your PSU is old you should probably replace it. I have no idea how long it'll last but I don't wanna press my luck much further. At 1080p you'd be ok with an RTX 2060 Super. The RTX 2080 Super is more a 1440p high refresh rate or 4K 60fps card. Although it's a bit lacking in some titles. It's one of the absolute best graphics cards you can buy right now and it is the best for under $1000.

Actually I think the Titan X(Maxwell?) is still OK at 1080p. It is probably a little lackluster for 144hz but it should stay above 60 in lots of games. The Core i7 2600K is still ok too although it may stutter a bit in CPU heavy titles. I see no reason to upgrade if you're sticking to 1080p except for maybe the CPU, motherboard, and RAM. I wouldn't go overboard with it and get an RTX 2080 Super for just 1080p. That would be money wasted.

Im not sure whats a good PSU to get... all the ones I've been suggested are like $300/400. I've only got like $150ish left to spend.

I ended up chosing a new PSU too. "Seasonic FOCUS Plus 750 Gold SSR-750FX 750W 80+ Gold "
