INTEL vs AMD Build

Hi!

I am planning to upgrade my old PC with new one. I am really confused about choosing between Intel & AMD build (specifically after Ryzen launch). My main purpose will be 1080p gaming in ultra setting where ever possible and basic designing work (in photoshop / corel draw etc.). I want to run all the program very smooth. I have primarily made 2 list for each build. Please suggest which will serve my purpose better. Really need your help.......

1. INTEL BUILD:

ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING
INTEL I7 8700
G.SKILL (8GBx1) DDR4 - 3000 MHZ TRIDENTZ RGB (will add another 8GB)
CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES™ H100I V2 EXTREME
CORSAIR AIR 740 HIGH AIRFLOW EDITION
CORSAIR HX SERIES™ HX750
SEAGATE DESKTOP SOLID STATE HYBRID DRIVE 1TB FIRECUDA

2. AMD BUILD:

Asus ROG STRIX X470-F GAMING
AMD RYZEN 7 2700
G.SKILL (8GBx1) DDR4 - 3000 MHZ TRIDENTZ RGB (will add another 8GB)
CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES™ H100I V2 EXTREME
CORSAIR AIR 740 HIGH AIRFLOW EDITION
CORSAIR HX SERIES™ HX750
SEAGATE DESKTOP SOLID STATE HYBRID DRIVE 1TB FIRECUDA
SAMSUNG 960 EVO NVME M.2 250 GB

Initially I have GTX 970 which I will upgrade to GTX 1070.

It's really pretty difficult tossup between those two. Basically only between 8700 and 2700. Things are like this 8700 (without K) would not be able to OC so that MB would be kinda too much. 8700 has marginally better single core performance but less cores/threads than Ryzen. On the other hand, R7 2700 can be OCed quite a bit but 2700x you don't even have to OC manually because it has quite high range of frequencies (2100 - 4200MHz+) to boost while keeping low voltage and temperatures and comes with quite good cooler capable of sustained high boost. Ryzen system will also be upgreadable for longer time than Intel.
So, it really comes down to Intel vs. AMD dilemma.

1st - whatever build you choose, upgrade ram to 16GB. Gaming and photo editing will strongly benefit from that.
2nd - are you sure 1TB storage drive will be enough? I'd go for higher capacity WD black drive instead.

Generally Intel tends to be better for gaming, Ryzen better for productivity/multitasking.

With reference to your suggestion while Intel is better for gaming, how does same game setting (Ultra/Very High) configuration affect the CPU load & CPU Temperature for Intel and Ryzen? 1 TB internal will do for me as I have another external 1TB drive.

Either of those would be more than able to cope with GTx 970 and 1070 or even best 1080.

I really don't want to OC. I will rely on base clock and Turbo Boost/Precision Boost. But as these CPU's need specific mobo I had to choose either Z370 or X470 board.

1. Can you suggest any other mobo for Ryzen which will work good if I don't OC.
2. Do PC game really take advantage of more core/thread of Ryzen in near future (3-4 years)?

Any x470 MB will take full advantage of 2700(x) turbo modes. Similar for Intel with Z370 but K models can do more than non-K. Higher starting and higher end turbo frequencies, it's not only about overclocking.
AS far as core/thread count goes, more and more of games are running on 4 cores and trend is for even more. It just takes long time to develop game engines to build games on and results will be seen in next couple of years. Than there's also game streaming growing more popular so more cores help there too.
