Hi Tomshardware,

Currently looking at this listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-XW8400-WorkStation-16GB-RAM-dual-xeon-quadro-FX-5500-/252407991062?hash=item3ac4b04b16:g:LtMAAOSwR5dXTOV3

The workstation comes with dual intel xeon e5645 processors, which are mediocre at best. I would be interested in switching them out for something of better quality. However, with these old workstations I'm not sure how to pick out a compatible xeon cpu for this motherboard as it is oem. How would I go about finding that out? Also, can i assume that this motherboard will be ATX? or will it most likely be something else. Thanks for all the help!

Solution
im relitivly certain it does not have a e5645 cpu in it. that computer has a lga 771 socket not a 1366 one. for cpu support it will ONLY support intel *51** series or *53** cpus. if you want something abit newer which i would recommend as the fastest *53** cpu is still pretty slow get oe of these.

and no the mobo is not any standard form factor
