Low on budget max 900$ including gtx 970 and the motherboard would be chosen upon selection of processor and a 8gb ram with 1 tb hdd , a 500 watt psu and a 21" monitor plus any cheap mid atx tower. Any suggestions?

Would be using this new build for at least 4 years!

Thank you.

I use the Xeon in this system and it works well for my gaming and my computation and simulation.

Here's what a system could look like.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($67.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($34.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($45.88 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB...
The intel xeon is basicly a i7 4790 without the intergrated gpu, i think for future proofing it might be better it over the 6500 since it is hyperthreaded so it will outpreform the 6500 once games start using those threads
Make surte the psu you get is a good quality one

It's well over budget and even by leaving the SSD out (which I consider essential for your work), it still won't fit. What can you cut back further?
