Hi Gang - Hope all are well

I currently have a Dell Precision Work Station with i7-7700 3.6GHz & 32GB RAM (approx. 2015-16). Wondering how another WorkStation with Intel Xeon E3-1240 V5 3.5GHz & 16GB RAM 2016 (with an NVIDIA Quadro K620) would compare in performance?

Thank You

Hi There boju (nice to see you)

"7700 in terms of cpu performance is in a different realm"

In other words, the CPU in my 7700 would outperform in Video Editing vs. the Xeon E3-1240?

I suppose I should try to stay in 'that same realm' if I intend to use a 2nd machine for similar Video Editing ...

Thank You

Xeon E3-1240 is based on Sandy Bridge architecture and equivalent to 2600, bit slower actually. 7700 in terms of cpu performance is in a different realm.
This isn't accurate, because it's the V5 which is Skylake which means the clock for clock performance is almost identical.

While the architectures between the two are almost identical the 7700 boosts 300MHz higher than the 1240 V5 on top of the 100MHz base clock difference. In the end the 7700 will be faster, but not by a significant margin.
