Hi!

Yesterday I bought this CPU for 40$. I already had aftermarket Arctic Alpine 12 CO cooler that cooled my i3 so he never went above 65 deegres.
With this CPU at 100% usage temperature raise up to 80 deegres. On web it says max safe temp is 70. I am scared for my pc because I need to render videos and
I don't know if it will handle it. I was thinking about buying Arctic 7X cooler. Is it worth it?

Solution
Arctic Alpine 12 CO is designed for TPD under 47W
Xeon E3-1246V3 has TPD of 87W

So what you have now is completely inadequate for that CPU.

If you're tight on the money, you'll be much better off with intel stock cooler part number: E97379-003
If you don't have one around, you can buy a new one for 10 bucks flat on amazon. It is designed TPD up to 140W.
Which happens to be rougly what E3-1246V3 draws at all core boost. It will not be very quiet, but it will be
safe and functional.

Quite frankly, putting any more money into it haswell E3's doesn't make much sense. They were great once, but they are
at the end of rope when it comes games released these days.

In the end of the day it is not all about the gaming and newest parts. Even if I buy expensive cooler I can still use it with newer Intel build or sell it. Anyway, thanks for replying

I tested it again with my CPU fan speed set in perfomance mode and at 1159RPM and full usage my CPU stays at 77-78.
I will just buy Arctic Freezer 34 later for a bit lower temps. Thanks everyone for replying!
