Intel Xeon E3-1270 vs I7 2700k

Hi people, I'm building a mid gaming pc (you can see it in my last post) and I don't know if an Intel Xeon E3 1270 could work equal or better than a i7-2700k in gaming with a MSI GTX970 4GB and 8GB of RAM. I've this question beacuse in my country is an announcement of an used xE3 1270 at 92 dollars, and the average price of an used i7-2700k in my country is 184 dollars. I'm looking for those procesors cause I've a mobo with a LGA1155 socket.
Edit: I've recently founded an offer of an Intel Xeon E3 1240 V2 + ECS H61H2-mv mobo + 8GB DDR3 RAM, so X E3 1240 V2 is an option for me too.
