Hello,

I have got something that should have been a quite fast machine but it is not. I have another PC with an Intel i7-2600k running at stock clock frequency and it's way faster than this. It does have an Asus P67B3 Deluxe mobo, PCIe OCZ Revodrive x3, 8GB of RAM but it should not outperform the new one, I guess not by such a big margin.

New system details:

MOBO: ASRock X99 WS
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2675 V3
RAM: 32GB made of 4 x Corsair 8192 MB (DDR4-2137) running quad channel
HDD Boot: 256GB Samsung NVMe SAMSUNG MZVPV256
HDD other: 1TB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08Y20A0
Video: Matrox M9138 LP PCIe x16
OS: Win7 64bit

This new machine is sluggish, scrolling up and down in Outlook or any other text editor is slow, unresponsive while browsing the internet, slow opening of folders, slow opening application, slow closing windows, sluggish when dragging things. Well, how do describe it, it's just slow.

It is used for development and it runs the same compilers as the I7 PC does but on this new machine the IDE is slow and difficult to use, compile time is greater and it takes long time until it runs. I think the only thing that it's almost on par is GCC compilation with the flag to do thread compilation. But that's pretty much all about it and I do expect to be way faster with such a large number of cores this Xeon has.

Any idea what could be the issue? CPU-Z benchmark result are unbelievable small, profile can be seen here http://valid.x86.fr/iqf1va

Thanks.

it is because of it's low frequency! many applications don't utilise all the cores, so single core performance is more important in many cases

I agree with that, however, it won't be that slow. It turned out that Malware Antimalware's software new 'Ransomware' protection when turned on was the culprit for such slow performance. With that module disabled it's much faster.

With Malware Ransomware protection turned on: http://valid.x86.fr/iqf1va
With Malware Ransomware protection turned off: http://valid.x86.fr/iqf1va

Multithread performance from 1341 to 15845, a figure that I have seen during a previous install. I was never thought Malware software can be that poor designed to have such a huge impact.
