Hi there i am new to posting on Toms Hardware and Im going to start by saying I know alot of you will just say this is es cpu and refuse to help me, But I need to get this going. This is a small home server to render and run various game servers as well as teamspeak.

Right now i can Post only 1 time with my asus x99-A/usb3.1 motherboard running the latest bios 3101

Basically it post says to go into bios then once in bios the moment i restart or leave i get error 19 or cpu not supported

this board supports this chip but im guessing not my stepping can someone link me to the correct microcode or another bios i can extract it from.

I know this is asking a lot and is a bit taboo with most of the tech community but i need someone thats a bigger geek than me in order to get this working

system
intel Xeon e5 2683 v4 es
asus x99-A/usb3.1
32 gb gskill 2400
3x4tb seagate hd
6x 60gb cheap ass ssd
1300 watt supernova psu gold rated
gt 720 csm 2gb

thanks again if solved i will donate in dogecoins :) or to a charity of your choice

Well you're about right.... Its an ES chip, there's no guarantees it'll work with anything. They're hit or miss and that's the risk you take buying them. Sorry man.

thank you for reply but someone must know were to get the microcode from. there are boards that do support these chips we just need someone to post or link the bios that has it. Then i can extract the microcode and add it to my bios

Hey,

Asus has released a new version of the BIOS.

X99-A BIOS 3301
https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/X99A/HelpDesk_Download/

Can you flash the newer version and try booting?

PS: I have the same board too and am thinking of getting an ES chip from eBay. Let us know if the new BIOS works.

Thanks

Ok so i finally got this chip working lol

i had to get a different board. I bought an MSI x99A raider i had a pc store flash the bios for me since there is no usb flash option and presto the thing works fantastic i don't have pics on me now but stock speeds cinabench r 15 i got 17.68 points and when i used throttle stop and oc the thing to 2.4ghz all cores 2.5 turbo i got 20.28 points lol only 1 cpu beats it and thats the new i7 10 core

waiting on my 4 cheap ssd to come in for raid 0 i have 3x 4tb in raid 5 for data speed seems good.

no asus board will work btw asrock or some msi boards and others are the only ones that work here is everything that does :)

Hmm. This makes me a little worried that the confidential CPUs i have will not work on the motherboard that i'm trying to get (MSI X99S SLI PLUS). I also have the QHUY. but i also have an Intel xeon e5 2698 v4 (QHUZ) and a Intel xeon e5 2695 v3 (QEY6). just hoping i don't run into any "unsupported CPU" errors!

So I see one of these CPU's on eBay now and wonder what does the ES mean that you are all talking about for the uninformed?
