Intel Xeon Gaming

Solution
Since it was free, I would go with the 1275v2 and pair it with a Z77 extreme 3, since they are cheap and support CF and SLI. The 1275 v2 is equal to an i7 3770k in clock speed. It just can't overclock as well. Wish I could score some awesome hardware like that for free. Let me know if your interested in getting rid of that 1275 v2 or that 1230.

Well it is a 10 core Xeon e5 2658 v2 with a 2.4ghz base and I think 3ghz OC. I'm also going to use a msi gtx 760 2gb. The gpu is fine for running games like bf4 but will I have trouble with my CPU when trying to run games?

From Intel: http://ark.intel.com/sv/products/76160/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2658-v2-25M-Cache-2_40-GHz

This CPU will run 20 threads on 10 cores, which I doubt many games of today will be able to make use of except for BF4, Crysis 3 and those games that have been designed to make use of multi threading (or SMP). With so many threads going on (and very low clock speed) it is very likely that some game will seem slow compared to faster running quad cores (i5 or even i7/Xeon E3 with HT) or AMDs FX 8350 (which run at 4.0-4.2 GHz at stock) with its eight core/four modules will likely be faster in games.

Why would you use a Xeon E5 with 10 cores/20 HT, if your main purpose would be gaming?

Well my father works for a company that builds computer hardware and software and i was given this cpu for free. The cpus that he gave me was the Xeon E5 2680 and E5 2658 v2, and the E3 1275 v2, 1225, and 1230. I think the E3 1275 v2 runs at 3.5ghz. Should i use this one if i plan to use my computer for gaming?

Ok what about the E5 2680 for gaming? it can overclock to 3.5ghz which should be fine right? If not then I will go with the e3 1275 v2.
