Hi guys

I have the system that i mention below
  • PSU : CORSAIR CX550M
  • Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z97P-D3
  • CPU : Xeon E3-1230(V3)
  • RAM: 16GB (4 MODULES X 4GB) HYPERX DDR3
  • GPU: GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1660 6GB OC
Is it worthing the CPU update from Xeon E3-1230(V3) to I7 4790?

I m not interested in OC.
The use of the PC is internet, youtube, netflix.
As far as gaming , the only game that i play is the War Thunder

Thank you in advance for your help!

i7-4790 non-K is pretty much the same as your Xeon only with 400MHz higher Turbo clock.

i7-5775C is more interesting, as it is pretty much the same as your Xeon plus 128MB of L4 cache which makes it still competitive with up to 11th gen Core i7. That's impressive for 8 years old and 6 generations older, and despite DDR3 + a much slower clockspeed.

Once Intel finally got off their 14nm++++++ node there was a rather large jump in performance with 12th gen, so if your system meets all of your needs right now, it makes way more sense to save the money for an eventual upgrade later, after Windows 10 support ends in two years. Who knows what kind of performance will be available by then--looks like Intel will be throwing a bunch of cache at 15th gen too.

With the current system i managed to play Assasins Creed Oddysey without any issues (40-50fps, medium to high settings). I think its pretty impresive because the specific game its very demanding!
