Question Intel xtu stuck profile

I overclocked my 8700k in intel xtu and got to the point that it restored the settings to default when it did this i Uninstalled Intel xtu and tried to overclock from the bios but every time i put a clock the cpu stays at the factory speed

I7-8700k
Msi z370 pro gaming carbon ac
Nzxt x62
Corsair vengeance rgb ddr4 16 GB
ASUS gtx 1070
Corsair cx650m 650 watt power supply

Are you saving your BIOS settings properly? If you "exit without saving", hit the power button to turn off the computer, or use the boot menu in BIOS to start Windows, your settings may not save properly.
 
are you sure multiplier is set to manual vice the default auto?

(With the fairly wide range of settings available in the XTU, including +/- .01V core voltage jumps, if it is not stable there, I'd not anticipate much improvement merely doing the same things within 'BIOS only' settings...

XTU is very convenient/easy to use, and still works great with MCE enabled mainboards, where a new higher turbo under load is used, but still allows idling at 800-1000 MHz under Balanced Power plan within WIndows. Any failure/bluescreens at all defaults everything within XTU back to defaults....
