Intellimouse software - using Escape key...

Apologies if asked before...

Is there any way of assigning the Escape key to one of the two side buttons
on an current Intellimouse?

I have both v4 and 5 of the software and it doesn't seem possible although
it could be achieved with the older versions of the supplied software.

I'm an AutoCAD user and the Escape key gets used frequently to 'escape' from
the current command and is an invalueble timesaver when assigned to a mouse
button.

My existing mouse is old and needs replacing but the new versions have
stopped supporting the use of the Escape key.

Many thanks,

Mike

Dunno about your setup but the Esc key is listed in the Button
assignment pulldowns here.

But only in the older software, not the newer v5 Intellimouse software!

Which version are you using?

I suppose I should have said we're using XP Home SP2 on a variety of
hardware configurations but with genuine Microsoft Explorer mouses
throughout.

I've rechecked and v4 WILL allow Escape to be assigned but all varieties of
v5 WON'T.

I have Ver 4. Not trying to be a wise guy but, you say you have Ver 4
and Ver 5 , so use 4.

At this time, it's not possible to add the ESC key as a custom keystroke.

I've heard some people try to do it through the registry, whether this works
or not, I'm not sure.

MSFT knows about this issue... so hopefully they can resolve it.
