A week ago my MS Intellimouse Explorer (the old one) started turning off suddenly on random times when I'm using my computer forcing me to reboot so it can turn on again.

Any ideas on what is going on?

My computer specs is as follow:
Duron 800, Epox 8K7A+, 256mb PC266
I haven't had any problems since I bought it (I think it have been like 1 year ago). It still works like the first day just for that which is driving me crazy!

hmmm
Check the connections.
Reinstall the software.
Pray.

Thats all i can think of right now

From all my experience (and that of friends, or word of mouth), the old MS intelli-explorer mice always fall apart. First it's mouse1 that starts acting up and activating mouse3. Later the cord (which might be your problem) gets loose somewhere and as you move it the power cuts in or out; or it causes odd fuctions, such as opening/closing windows.

I've seen these things fall apart a million times, they usually are solid for 2years of hard useage (10+ of weekly gaming). However if you have a 5 year warranty on it like I do, you would just take it back every 3 years or so :).

I'm not sure if the explorer v2/v3 hold out any better though.

i had a version 1 that died after 8 months. cable was lose, i tried cutting the cable short and resoldering the connection to the mouse but it didnt work, cant figure out why. so i went a bought a new one at walmart and returned the bad one.

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

intrusting. well ive got a explorer 3 for 9-12 months now, never and issue, and my sis has had an old basic MS optical mouse for longer and that still is goin fine.
