To me seems like the result of Intel stealing AMDs APU idea without realizing that they need a way, like the ability to run OpenCL on both, to make the CPU and GPU work together for accelerated computing. On the PC platform only Intel and Matrox don't have OpenCL compliance in their GPUs, even Via and S3 have it.

From what i hear intel already has the next 5 gen. of cpus made out? Maybe? I can believe that.

by buying the boards with the new sockets, you have the advantage of getting the newest chipset as well as the other new standards, like sata3, usb3, etc. it's all good
