[citation][nom]acadia11[/nom]Ok, I'm confused, if Sandy Bridge has on die graphics core, what's the point of an external graphics processor other than SLI/Crossfire modes? Why would anyone care other than in the mobile space to have on-die graphics?[/citation]
To me seems like the result of Intel stealing AMDs APU idea without realizing that they need a way, like the ability to run OpenCL on both, to make the CPU and GPU work together for accelerated computing. On the PC platform only Intel and Matrox don't have OpenCL compliance in their GPUs, even Via and S3 have it.

by buying the boards with the new sockets, you have the advantage of getting the newest chipset as well as the other new standards, like sata3, usb3, etc. it's all good :)
