Interenet/LAN connection drops when playing games

Whenver I play online games or even LAN games my ping spikes up randomly and sometimes i lose connection all together. I have had problems with smite having occasional ping spikes but today its been affecting everygame ive been attempting to play. Last night i was playing torchlight2 with no problems at all on LAN but tonight it simply loses connection to the LAN. Im not really sure whats going on I havent changed any setting or messed with the modem. Im using a wifi connection.

If you consistently play on LAN, use either-net cables. cheap and will hopefully stop your problems

Im using a belkin wireless usb adapter with a standard service provider router.

belkins are not good for gaming, I had one and it disconnected me every time on my games!!! if so go with netgear i have netgear or Linksys

Before any kind of gaming session, my roommate or I would power cycle the belkin router. That might get you through until you decide on something better.
