Intermediate connection to the internet-stable connection to the network

I have an older laptop that is having major issues with maintaining a stable internet connection. Connection to the network is stable. I know this because a -t ping on my router I always get a reply However pinging 8.8.8.8 I get a reply one line and then the next line the request times out. This goes back and forth until I have a stable connection or I just give up turn off/on the wireless and try again. This doesn't seem to happen at any timed interval or correlate with any giving activity. It's not my ISP or my equipment at fault as my other devices don't suffer from this issue. The few times I've connected the laptop to the router via rj45 I've had no problems. I don't have any ideas what could cause this other than maybe the wireless card could be dying?

Run tracert and pathping via the command prompt.

Verify that the problem is or is not within your network.

Have you moved the laptop around your house to determine if wireless interference may be the cause? Try the laptop in other places.

What wireless network adapter are you using? Make & model? Built in or perhaps a USB wireless adapter.

Download and reinstall new wireless drivers via the wireless network adapter's manufacturer. Go to their website. Read carefully to identify the correct driver and the proper installation procedure.

Wow I feel really dumb. I did have the most up to date driver from Dell, but lone behold Intel has drivers that are way newer. For now, it seems to be working, fingers crossed.
