Intermittent DVI signal loss

I built my system back in November, but lately I've been having an intermittent problem with my graphics system. I'm not sure if it's the card, the mobo, the cable or what. Every now and then the monitor will go black and give the No DVI message. I tried quickly plugging the PC into a different monitor and got no signal there either. I even tried moving the cable from the GPU card to the motherboard DVI connection, but it didn't work that way either. At some point, after having the PC off for a bit, it will come work again. I don't know if it's heat problem because I've never just let it sit to see if it comes back on by itself. Here's my setup:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 7
CPU: i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz
CPU COOLER:Cooler Master Hyper N520
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB
Power Supply:Corsair HX650
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1

Thanks.

"I even tried moving the cable from the GPU card to the motherboard DVI connection, but it didn't work that way either"

Motherboard's integrated GPU won't work anyway until you pull the GeForce card out (unless your PC's BIOS supports both simultaneously).

Try reseating the GeForce card (pull it out - give the slot a blast from a can of compressed air - firmly push the card back in level and screw down the backplate).
