Can't find a compatible internal DVD-RW listed at Dell's site, but I
recall when I placed the order that this was an upgrade option. Anyone
know of a compatible drive for the Inspiron 1100 so I can upgrade the
CD-RW drive to DVD?

You'll never find a compatible Dell-brand DVD-RW drive on any Dell. They may
have offered a DVD+RW. That's Dell's thing

Dell probably had a DVD+RW option, but the parts aren't online - you'd
have to call them.
A better option is probably a universal (DVD +/-RW) external USB 2.0 drive.
