I have an internal DVD Writer with SATA connection, but as my computer uses the IDE standard I thought I'd use a Deltaco 3.0 to SATAII Cable to connect the optical drive to the USB-port. The computer recognizes the drive but it just won't eject. What might be the problem? I have tried another drive before also with the same result.

The adapter cable supports only hard drives if you look at the specs sheet:
http://beta.deltaco.eu/en/product/%28USB3-SATA2%29/Deltaco-USB3-SATA2---Storage-controller---SATA-3Gb-s---300-MBps---USB-30/

Either that or there's not enough volts available through the USB port to power the tray-eject function.

Buy a purpose-made external optical drive or an IDE-PATA internal one.
