internal hard drive compatibility

Hey there, YoDaXloVEr!

It would be a lot easier if you could give us some details about your system and your hard drive model.
However, unless it's a REALLY, REALLY old computer, your motherboard should be compatible with any standard desktop drive. The connection is executed through the SATA ports on the motherboard and through the power connector of your power supply.
If you need assistance installing the drive in your computer, I'd suggest to use this tutorial from our knowledge base: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=3WSllm
It will give you all the details about how to physically install, set jumper settings and set up your hard drive in Windows.

Hope it helps. Keep us posted if you have more questions! :)

1. If your question is strictly hardware oriented; All you have to know is if both motherboard and hard drive are IDE or SATA...
2. IDE mobos won't take SATA HDDs without a PCI adapter and PSU molex connector to SATA adapter...
3. SATA mobos, some have a IDE connector, and if not, you can buy IDE HDD to SATA adapters.
