I have a case which only has space for 1 internal 3.5" HDD I have 2, so one of them is outside of my case on my desk, how harmful could that be to the drive? I have already been having problems (on startup of my PC) where it wouldn't scan it properly and it says it supposedly "doesn't exist" I then rescan for drives and it shows up, but then it doesn't function very well could this problem be because of that?

Specs: Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, GTX 1060 6GB Graphics card, G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3200 & Team T-Force Vulcan 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3200, Intel 660p series 512GB M.2 SSD, 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (working one in my case), Seagate Barracuda 3.5" 1TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (one which was outside), Arctic Freezer 12 CPU cooler, ASRock B450M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard, GameMax RGB 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply, Samsung C24F390 24-Inch Curved LED Monitor.

The Problem I was having is difficult to describe but I'll try my best. Whenever I loaded up my PC The hard drive wouldn't show up under "My PC" in documents, I then went to disk management and it would say it sees Disc 0 then when I try to activate it, it says it doesn't exist, I then would have to go to the Action tab and click on ReScan Drives and then it shows up and seems to work, but when I tried to Install Games on it, it either wouldn't actually download them or it would be incredibly slow and then when it was working and I had already installed games, those Games wouldn't run.
