My laptop suddenly crashed. Upon restart, the HDD was no longer being detected. I checked the bios and it was not there either.

I thought the HDD failed so I connected it to another laptop but it was working fine.

Could the problem be the HDD PCB?

If so, would a simple replacement fix the problem?

...I thought the HDD failed so I connected it to another laptop but it was working fine..."
"...I know that my HD is not faulty since I have managed to get it working perfectly on another laptop..."

Ahhhhh, I forgot you indicated that earlier. I'm assuming you already tried refreshing the problematic laptop's connections between motherboard and HD. I better listen in and let others weigh in on this.

I have a windows install on a USB. However, I don't think this will solve the problem as the HD is not being detected in the first place. I know that my HD is not faulty since I have managed to get it working perfectly on another laptop.

I guess what I wanted to know is if it is definitely a hardware problem.
