a while back I wanted to format my internal HDD, as I wasn't using it any longer. but I remembered how I messed up my whole MBR when I did that previously while running 2 hdds. so I got this app EaseUS Partition Master and changed MBR on my HDD.

my HDD had a Master BR since i used it to boot up my old PC. but I gave my PC to my family member so I wanted a clean wipe on the current hard drive. after I took out MBR with the app, everything was fine... i didnt format it though, and left it alone.

fast forward to today. I got SATECHI hdd docking station. so i put my HDD in it, and in Windows Explorer it says "Removable Disk (E:)". when I click on it, it says "Please insert a disk into Removable Desk (E:)." it can't be the docking station, because it works with other hdds.

when I check Disk Management it just says Removable (E:) No Media

the only thing I could do is change drive letter or path, and go to properties.

but here is the most interesting thing, I CAN ACTUALLY ACCESS THIS HDD ONLY WHEN I HOOK IT UP TO MY MOBO!!!!! this is when I turn off my PC, hook the hdd up, and boot up the drive with it. all my files are there. but when I try accessing through this hdd docking station, it's a no go with the message above. what can I do to fix it? the whole purpose of me buying this docking station, is that I DO NOT have to open up my old PC each time I need to access or write to my 3.5" HDD. seriously, what can I do? please help.

here are pics.

what happens when I just plug my HDD into a docking station

this is when I hook it up directly to the mobo. and the ONLY way I could see my HDD in Explorer, is if I right click the "Healthy" partition and go Change Drive Letter and Paths... > Add > assign a drive letter. I have to do this EVERY time I boot up. weird...

guys, I figured it out!!!!!!

My HDD just said "Healthy" when I connected it directly into the case. but when I'd use my new Docking station, it wasn't there, even in Disk Management. I basically realized that I messed with the this HDD after I gave my PC away with EaseUS Partition Master. But I forgot what exactly I did with it. So I found this guide that told me to "Convert to basic disk" with the same app. My computer restarted 2 times after I exited the program. And then... it worked~!! here are pics and links ...

and then I had to turn on "Auto assign Drive" for my Windows 8.1, which was off for some reason

Open Command Prompt in Administrator mode (right click on Start button for a shortcut)
Type "diskpart" to enter Microsoft DiskPart
At the DiskPart prompt, type: "automount enable"

I am so relieved. and hopefully someone else comes across this when searching for the problem. Phewww!!!!!!! I can move on, and backup my movies before I start editing. That won't happen until tomorrow. My energy is all drained looing for an answer. I am sooooooooo happy 😱)
